What is Brocade? 
Brocade is a luxurious fabric, traditionally made from silk, and is characterized by its intricate, raised patterns, often with gold or silver threads. The history of brocade print dates back to ancient civilizations, and it has evolved through various cultures over the centuries. Brocade has a rich, multicultural history that reflects its origins as a textile of luxury and prestige. Its distinctive, raised patterns continue to make it a symbol of elegance and heritage in textiles today.

The art of brocade weaving was introduced to India during the Mughal Empire (1526–1857). The Mughal emperors, with their love for luxury, patronized this technique, especially in textiles like saris, shawls, and other garments. Indian brocade, known as Zari, was often used to create intricate floral and paisley patterns, and was woven with gold or silver threads. The region of Banaras (Varanasi) in India became particularly famous for its brocade print.
